Transcript
Alojzy Lysko was a dedicated Polish Silesian writer and politician whose work explored the complex, often painful history of his homeland. Born in 1942, his life was deeply affected by the shadow of World War II, during which his own father was forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht. Motivated by this history, Lysko became a notable activist who tirelessly collected narratives from forgotten soldiers. In 1999, he shared these personal accounts in his book documenting family legends about soldiers from Upper Silesia. His public service led him to the Sejm, where he served as a member from 2005 to 2007. After a lifetime spent preserving the voices of the past, Alojzy Lysko passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of eighty-four.
