In 1995, he moved on to lead the Edmonton Ice, which later transitioned into the Kootenay Ice. His lasting impact is cemented by the Ed Chynoweth Cup, awarded annually to the league champion. Ed Chynoweth passed away from cancer in 2008 at the age of 66, leaving a legacy as a visionary builder of the sport.
