60 Seconds: Yitzhak Seiger's Life Story
A brief overview of the life and political career of Israeli politician and Knesset member Yitzhak Seiger.
Transcript
Yitzhak Seiger was an influential Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset during the early 1980s. Born in Haifa during the Mandate era, Seiger pursued a dedicated path of public service. He studied economics, political science, and law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem before becoming a certified lawyer. In 1969, he joined the Liberal Party, eventually rising to become the chairman of its Economics Council. By 1981, his commitment led to his election to the Knesset on the Likud list. He remained a dedicated representative, winning re-election in 1984. Tragically, his tenure was cut short when he died in office on February 5, 1985, at the age of forty-eight. His seat was subsequently taken by Ya'akov Shamai, marking the end of a notable career.
